The Unitarian-Universalists actually teach classes called "Build Your Own Theology." People study as they wish, reflect, and determine what they actually believe. Many eventually decide they are actually "atheists," but this doesn't change their human drive for fellowship, helping others, ethics, etc. It simply lets them grow and think for themselves.

If there is some supernatural being, it will be interesting if we ever find any evidence for it. I think it helps a lot of people to have a story they can tell, but when they start killing each other over whose metaphorical story is the *right* one, then it's time to start questioning belief itself and determining what is useful and what is simply indoctrination.
