No proof of a god's existenceReader comment on item: Churches in Saudi Arabia? Submitted by Claire (United States), May 27, 2008 at 04:08 There is absolutely no scientific evidence of the existence of a god or any supernatural power. My opinion is that 100% of people have the ability to act as "prophets" in the sense seen in the revealed religions. These guys you mention had the distinction of appearing in the first books to be printed using a printing press, so it helped them along. They called anyone who was strongly intuitive a "prophet" back then. There is no evidence of a "paradise" after death. It's a nice story, but no proof at all. I won't argue with a strongly indoctrinated person, however, because you will just continue to cite the doctrine as evidence of the truth of the doctrine. That's what all believers do. Of course, if it works for you, that's your business, but I find it insulting for you to suggest that you consider Islam to be the official final religion. It's just another brainwash, and for some reason we still don't completely understand, it works on the brains of some individuals, causing them to believe it as if it were true. That's what interests me. Why would someone praise a structured brainwash, be it Islam, Jehovah's Witnesses, or anything else, and believe that just because some ancient individual said it or wrote it, that it's true? As long as no one forces me to abide by it, and no one insists it's true for me, I think people should have the freedom to believe whatever religion resonates with them (or believe in no religion). Mohammed said nothing unique. What he said is written elsewhere by others. He just said it for a particular group of people he controlled (yes, he controlled them--he was a warlord, after all) at a particular point in time. As long as people believe their religion is the only true one and that everyone should believe it, we'll have serious problems. The Christians are no better, just a little more evolved. I look forward to the day when Islam will evolve and allow people their freedom--especially women.
