Allah is greater - than what?

Reader comment on item: Is Allah God? - Continued
in response to reader comment: The god of Mohammed....

Worth noting is that the Islamic war chant 'Allahu Akbar' means 'Allah is greater' or 'Allah is the greatest'.

That might mean "Allah is greater than God (Jahve)". But then they're not the same.

An alternative is "Allah is the greatest of the Meccan gods", referring to Al-Lat, Al-Uzza, Manat and the other idols of the Ka'aba. That certainly does not make Allah God, and furthermore dips Islam into the treacherous waters of polytheism to boot.

Applying logic to Islam has consequenses. The Quran puts it this way: "Do not question the Qur'an. There was a party of you who questioned it and as a result, they lost their faith."
