Nowhere in Islam is such a tenet established or preached. Martyrdom is a virtue but just one of many that causes one to come close to God. Simple faith as well as acts of worship, such as prayer or giving charity, also cause one to come close to God - as stated in the Quran as well as teachings of Muhammad.
