Can never be the same - here's why

Reader comment on item: Is Allah God? - Continued

The Bible was written over a 1500 year period, from Moses in c.1500BC (maybe earlier) to John's Revelation in 100AD. During that time many predictions and prophecies came true (and some are yet to pass). The four gospels were written by eyewitnesses, with particular detail given to the death/resurrection account. They could have been ridiculed or dismissed by contemporaries, but they weren't - instead the fledging church grew, changing part of a fairly fixed and unchanging Jewish society on the way. 12 men went to their deaths proclaiming that a publicly executed man had been brought back from the dead. Very hard to believe that they would die for a lie. Paul writes to the Galatians, a young church, that 'if I or an angel from heaven preaches to you a gospel contrary to that which I have preached to you, let him be eternally condemned'.

Now, Mr Mohammed comes wandering out of the Saudi desert 600 years later and says, 'Hey, by the way, contrary to what these eyewitnesses said, Jesus didnt die on the cross. Someone was sent in his place. Oh, and by the way, an angel is preaching to me the TRUE message'. I'll leave it to the reader to work out how these can be reconciled. But the reason the Koran is so similar to the Bible is simply because Mo bastardised huge sections of it. And while Mr Pipes is indeed correct that the Muslims claim Abraham as a Muslim, it may interest him to know they also claim Alexander the Great was one as well. Mr Craig Wynn has done a great analysis at www.prophetofdoom.net - although sarcastic and scathing his analysis does seem to be fairly robust.
