Reader comment on item: Is Allah God? - Continued

My dear MO – this is merely an attempt to clarify some of the confusion you have concerning 'THE GOD' of Christianity and 'THE GOD' of Islam. Let us begin with a point of agreement, "So these two cannot be the same." 'THE GOD' of Christianity is known in the Old Testament as YHWH – He is the creator god of the universe – He is the god of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – He is the god that brought Israel out of Egypt and gave the Law to Moses – He is the god that declares 'there is no other god before me and there shall be no other god after me – I AM YHWH – there is no other god but me.' Based on YHWH's testimony in the OT any other entity that claims to be 'THE GOD' is an imposter or a liar.

I have never suggested that Allah is the Arabian Moon God – I do contend that the Chief Deity of the Pre-Islamic pantheon was named Allah – whether this is the same Allah of Islam or perhaps Mohammad just used this name for the Allah of Islam because it was familiar to the Arabs makes no difference to me.

My main point is that ALLAH is the NAME of 'THE GOD' of Islam and YHWH is the NAME of 'THE GOD' of Christianity. Christianity asserts that YHWH = The Father AND The Son AND The Holy Spirit. This is a Boolean statement that I hope you will be able to understand. The fact that Arabic speaking Jews and Christians use the word 'allah' to refer to 'god' is of no consequence because, as it has been pointed out so many times 'allah' simply means 'god' – therefore any 'god' whether TRUE or FALSE can be referred to as 'allah' or 'god'. The real issue is when YHWH, the TRUE God of the OT / NT, is referred to as 'ALLAH' – that is blasphemy, IMHO.

It is not Christians that are in need of salvation – they already have the Free Gift of Eternal Life in Christ Jesus.
