Reader comment on item: Is Allah God? - Continued

Why do some believe that we all MUST be praying to the same God if we say, "God Most High"? It does not mean that.

If we compare the Quran with the Christian Bible or Jewish Bible we can see clearly that once compared, the texts are far too different to be speaking about the same God.

For example, in the Jewish Bible God claims, " I am the same today, yesterday, and forever; I do not change." and " You are my people forever(speaking of the Hebrews)." The Christian bible validates that point with Jesus himself saying that he is from the line of David and he has come to bring salvation to the Jews. Both Judaism and Christianity talk about Jerusalem being the place where God's name and house remains forever.

The Quran however throws all of that away. The Quran speaks about the Jews and Christians loosing the way and now there was a need for a new revelation. The Quran never once speaks about Jerusalem, only Mecca and Medina. By those few facts, and there are HUNDEREDS of others that claim both Judaism and Christianity have become void, you can't possibly assume that Islam's God is the same through theology.

"God is not a man that he should lie, nor a son of man that there be deceit." By that very statement from the Jewish Bible, the Quran is not referring to the same God as Jews or Christians. How so? Because once the Quran claimed that Judaism and Jews were no longer the keepers of Gods word, they turned God into a liar. Therefore, how can you believe in the same God? Trust me, no Muslim thinks Allah is a liar!

Also, a little history on the name of Allah. Islam is a recently 'new' religion in the scope of others. Mohammed had his revelation around 610ad, the Quran is put into book form around 680-90ad. Pre-Islam Arabs were pagan. They had many gods like every other pagan religion. It is the most interesting thing that the name of the Pagan Arab Moon God was none other than Allah. And Allah was just one of many Pagan Arab Gods.

So no matter how much political rhetoric we hear or spout out of our mouths, religion is never the same. Our Gods are not the same, our beliefs are not the same.
