Jesus Christ is not God if the Muslim deity is.

Reader comment on item: Is Allah God? - Continued

If the Muslim god is God then Jesus Christ is not God. The Koran is believed to be the literal words of the Muslim god. The Koran states the Islamic god has no son. It further says Jesus Christ or Issa is no more than a prophet, a man, and he did not die on the cross. By a multitude of proofs in both the Bible and the Koran, every Christian and Muslim knows the Muslim god is a construct unique to itself having no concord with the Judeo-Christian deity. With all respect due to Mr. Pipes, and i have high regard for his integrity and intellect, the confusion we see here is the great divide between Roman Catholics and Protestant Christians.

The Protestant Reformation re-established the primacy of Holy Scripture as the sole standard or norm for Christian Faith and Practice for Protestants. But the Roman Catholics, in their counter-Reformation Council of Trent, re-affirmed their primacy of Church Tradition as equal to and in fact having more authority than Holy Scripture. This means the pronouncements of the Popes and the Magisterium over the centuries is to be defered to all matters of Faith and Practice over Holy Scripture alone. The Roman Catholic must unquestionly submit to these official pronouncements. I must conclude that Mr. Pipes is a Roman Catholic since he uncritically accepts the Pope's declaration regarding the god of Islam. But the Pope and the Magisterium aside, Jesus Christ and the Islamic deity cannot both be the one and only God. It defies the plain words of Jesus Christ, the Holy Scriptures, the Koran and even logic itself.
