Reader comment on item: Is Allah God? - Continued
in response to reader comment: "Allah of the Quran" is the "god" of this world

Submitted by Henrik Ræder Clausen (Denmark), Oct 24, 2006 at 15:57

As far as I know, Pope Benedict XVI is extremely well read, also in the Quran. It might not be his central field of study (shouldn't be :), and it's quite plausible that he discarded the incomprehensible bits.

But his stand against Islam is becoming clearer and clearer. He chose a pertinent quote that the Islamic clerics have not been able to counter - they didn't show anything good from Muhammad - and he's probably considering his next moves.

Declaring God and Allah the same might be a defensive move for Christian monotheism, as the co-existance of God and other gods would lead to some strange paradoxes.

On the other hand, the evidence against Allah being God is overwhelming. The mere fact that Allah resides in Hell rejoicing in the suffering of the infidels speaks volumes. He even decided beforehand who should go there in an extreme fit of fatalism, apparently creating beings just for the purpose of suffering. Some mean God, and certainly not the one we know from the Bible. 'Evil spirit' would probably be more appropriate.
