Dear Dr Pipes,

It is possible that your article "Is Allah God? - Continued" was written from a Western perspective but it is instructive to note that most of the people who supported the Allah=God position were Christian. Islamic isolationism stands out here also. They have to maintain that their deity is different, and superior compared with other deities.

As an external Hindu polytheist two thoughts come to my mind: 1. Allah may not be same as Christian God. Christian God came to this world to free us of our sins and preached nothing but love. The Muslim Allah gave pretty precise instructions to the followers about how to kill. Unless God changed in the intervening 600 years, God and Allah cannot be the same. 2. As a committed polytheist for me this issue is moot. If you love each other, God is same as Allah. If you don't God is not the same as Allah.
