Reader comment on item: Is Allah God? - Continued
in response to reader comment: The "monotheistic tradition" of the Jews was stolen by the Muslims, like everything else.

Every monotheistic religion that came after Judaism can only seek legitimacy by repudiating the religion that preceded it. Otherwise the existence of the parent religion is a thorn in the side of the "newer" religion. If you can't make people believe that the newer religion is better than the old one, then you just tell the lie that certain tenets of that religion were really part of your religion regardless of the absurdity of the argument

If one religion were "superior" to other religions why would there be a need for killings for aposty? The appeal would be such that any logical (but then again logic generally has no place in religion) argument would demonstrate the superiority of the religion. People would run to embrace it. There would be no need for the sword or jihad. It would seem to the logical observer that the need to convert by violence is inversely proportional to the validity of the religion.

This is as logical as the Berlin wall being constructed to keep free people out rather than oppressed people in.

Religions that claim to have all the answers, don't allow any questions!!
