Sanctimony is the opposite of objectivity, not "

in response to reader comment: No, Thank you ... better to appear to be sanctimonious than to possibly be blasphemous

Oliver, I guess you think that you can only properly refer to God in Hebrew. How quaint!
Now, one wonders if Paul expressed as much while preaching to the Greeks and Romans? hmmmm....

Suffice it to say, there are plenty of people to disagree with your views, and to put it mildly, are not of the mindset that a reference to God outside of Hebrew, even when it is borrowed from other prior usages, to be "blasphemy" as you've stated. If that's the case, then an awful lot of Europeans are also blaspheming.

Then again, "blasphemy" is not an academic subject that I am personally acquainted with :P

How did you like learning about the use of "Khuda" by Persianate speakers who are members of all faiths?

"I hate it – I truly dislike it – my heart cringes at the very sight of it"

You should be careful of such emotional impulses! Perhaps if your mind didn't harbor such intense sanctimonious sectarian biases, you wouldn't suffer so? I honestly find your position untenable myself.

"I simply want to be ‘on record' in opposition to the practice"

You've made that very clear, repeatedly in fact, thank you.

"but, OK – if it ‘makes your day' – ugh, I just can't condone it. Sorry."

That's OK, you probably wouldn't condone my own mother's interpretation of faith either, as she is an ordained priest.

Have a nice day!
