Dear Sudeep Pathak,

'the three main monotheistic religions are willing to call everyone else a sinner'

In his letter to the Romans, Paul quotes the Tanakh: 'for ALL have sinned and fall short …' and again 'there is NONE righteous (without sin) – no NOT ONE'. So Judaism & Christianity both call everyone (not everyone else) a sinner – thus everyone's need for a Savior – one of the principal themes of both the Tanakh & the NT.

'Hindus are not dumb … We know that the Supreme God is unknowable'

Another principal theme of the Tanakh & NT is that God (YHWH) knows HIS creation intimately and desires to be known by it – Jesus said that God even knows the number of hairs on our heads and HE prayed that we might know God even as God knows us. The Tanakh is the account of YHWH's relationship with HIS creation, in particular, HIS relationship with Abraham, Isaac & Jacob and then Israel. The NT is all about the relationship of Jesus with HIS disciples and the people HE came in contact and how we (as believers in HIM) can continue and develop our relationship with HIM. It is not possible to have a relationship with a rock, a tree or even an aloof 'entity' that could care less about us – the Tanakh & NT speak of a God that has our wellbeing foremost in mind and HIS proactive steps to kindle, establish and maintain a loving relationship with those who will seek HIM. Paul said 'for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.' Isaiah wrote "Come now, and let us reason together," says the LORD, "Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool." How is it possible to believe in and entrust in an entity that cannot be known – how is it possible to reason with an entity that is unknowable? The 'one true GOD' is a knowable and compassionate GOD.

Peace & Love
