To PJ

The story of the blind men and the elephant, so often quoted in religiously plural societies, describes blind men, watched by a king and his courtiers, touching different parts of an elephant, then saying what they think they are touching, and of course, their descriptions are different. The real point of the story is constantly overlooked. The story is told from the point of view of the king and his courtiers, who are not blind and can see that the blind men are unable to grasp the full reality of the elephant, and are only able to get hold of part of the truth. The story is regularly told, to try and neutralise the affirmation of Christianity about the identity of Jesus Christ, and to suggest it learns humility, and recognise it can't have any more than one aspect of the truth. But, of course, the real point of the story is the exact opposite. If the king were also blind, there would be no story, but the story is told by a fully-sighted king, and it is the immensely arrogant claim of one who sees the full truth, which all the world's religions are only groping after. It embodies the claim to know the full reality which not only seeks to undercut Christianity's truth claims, but relativises all the claims of the world's religions and philosophies.

In seeking to neutralise the affirmation of Christianity about the identity of Jesus Christ, it conveniently ignores His self-affirmation to be The Truth John 14:6 not a truth, not one of many truths etc. but The Truth, the real McCoy, the genuine article, the real thing, and His words that "anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father." John 14:9 "I and the Father are One" 10:30 tell it like it is, with the New testament testimony being that "Jesus Christ is the visible image of the invisible God" Colossians 1:15 and "For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body." Colossians 2:9

God has given us all the help we need PJ, to see just Who the Lord Jesus Christ is, firmly inking it in 3 days after His crucifixion by His glorious resurrection from the dead, the New Testament saying "And He was shown to be the Son of God, when He was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. He is Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 1:4 the New Testament promising that "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved." Romans 10:9&10

That's the deal PJ, do you want it?

With kind regards

Lactantius Jr.
