The God of the Bible is not the same as the Qur'anic Allah

Reader comment on item: Is Allah God? - Continued

Submitted by Lactantius Jr. (United Kingdom), Sep 30, 2006 at 16:38

The God revealed in the printed words of the Bible, and supremely revealed in the living, loving Word of God, Jesus Christ, is not the same as the Qur'anic Allah. Allah is not a Father and does not have a Son. He may have 99 names, but Father is not one of them.

Here is what the Bible and the Qur'an say:-

This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" the Bible: Matthew 3:17, 17:5

"No Son did Allah beget" the Quran: Surah 23:91

Islam is a formidable theological opponent of Christianity, denying Jesus' incarnation and divinity, saying He was just a man, a good man, but nowhere near as good as Muhammad, saying that He wasn't crucified, because Allah put a "lookalike" on the Cross instead of Jesus. Here is what the Bible and the Qur'an say about Jesus' crucifixion:-"And they crucified Him, and parted his garments, casting lots; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet" the Bible: Matthew 27:35

"That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Apostle of Allah"; - but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not." the Qur'an Surah 4:157

If it were true that Allah put a "lookalike" on the Cross instead of Jesus, what would that say about Allah's character, deceiving everybody at the time of the Crucifixion, and for the last 1400 years? that's right, it says that he is deceptive, a deceiver, and this completely rules out the possibility of Allah being the same as the God of the Bible, because He can't lie, thus, Allah is not God. Period.

This attempted deception also completely excludes Jesus' glorious resurrection from the dead, on which Christianity absolutely stakes its claim to validity. Well may the Apostle Paul have said, "If Jesus wasn't raised from the dead, my preaching's useless and so is your trust in God." 1 Corinthians 15:14

There are other profound differences between the character of the true and living God of the Bible, and the Qur'anic Allah, but to itemise them all would only belabour the point already made.
