Isn't Ahmed Ali a little off base?

Dhimmi - where are you taking this thread?

The verses usually referred to by Muslims are Deut 18:15 and John 14:16.

Deut 18:15 "The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your countrymen, you shall listen to him."

In this verse, Moses is talking to the Israelites and clearly says 'God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your countrymen' the prophet can hardly be identified as a gentile (as Ahmed Ali attempts) - most other translators try to say the prophet is 'unlettered' - but no matter what, he will be an Israelite. That fact precludes Muhammad/Allah.

John 14:16 "And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever;

John 14:17 that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you, and will be in you.

John 14:18 "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

Here Jesus is speaking to His deciples and He promises not to leave them orphans, but that HE will come to them. Jesus (the Son) says that He will ask the Father to send another Helper (paraclete - one who comes alongside as a helper) who is the Sririt of Truth (the Holy Spirit - the Spirit of God - the Spirit of Christ). The Paraclete 'arrived' on the Day of Pentacost following Jesus' ascension. That fact precludes Muhammad/Allah.

WOW - look at that - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit - all alluded to by Jesus in the same passage.
