Hashem and Allah

Reader comment on item: Is Allah God? - Continued

Submitted by john w mcginley (United States), Sep 29, 2006 at 14:12

Let me suggest that Hashem and Allah are ultimately the same and that the Christian "God" has nothing to do with either. "Allah" is how God will be called for the Gentiles and "Hashem" is what God is called for the Jews. However, right now Islam is held hostage to forces within Islam which bring a terrible reputation to the God in whose name these forces commit atrocities.

Countries like Israel and the United States should keep the powder dry. These forces within Islam (both Sunni and Shia) are powerful and their rhetoric of hatred must be taken seriously. But the battle against terrorism will, in the final analysis, only resolve when Muslims stand up to those evil forces within Islam which are causing the God of Islam to have an undeserved bad reputation.
