Reader comment on item: Is Allah God? - Continued
in response to reader comment: Is Allah God

When zzazzeefrazzee pointed out that the name of allah was actually being used for the generic word theos in the NT - I immediately checked out the Arabic version of the following verse with an Arabic speaker:

Ex 3 : 6 Then he said, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob." At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.

Here we have [5] occurances of the English word God - in the Hebrew each occurance is the word 'Elohim' - in the Greek of the LXX all occurances are the word Theos - in the Arabic translation mentioned by zzazzeefrazzee the first [4] occurances are Ilah, but the final occurance is allah. This is a gross mistranslation and dishonest representation of the Hebrew text.

So there - I've said it - with as much force as I can muster - in as open a forum as there is available to me - perhaps Dr. Pipes would like to address this matter in a future article ...

1 Cor 2 : 1 And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. 2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 3 I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. 4 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, 5 so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God's power.

2 Cor 4 : 2 But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God's word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God.

These are the words of the much defamed (by muslims) Apostle Paul - his methods were not those of a cunning deceiver but instead those of a faithful, truthful witness for the great God and Savior Jesus Christ.
