Moshe,

If you review the history of Europe and Islamic excursions into this region only desperate and violent excursions have halted the inexorable advance of total theocratic darkness. Victory is a question of will and will is amoral. Amorality is distinguishable from immorality the latter being evil the former being a mixture of what a Judeo-Christian society would regard as good and evil, cruelty and kindness. In short if we are to survive then we must be as prepared to get down and dirty as our enemies. If we value our ways then circumstances invariably arise which from time to time justify bloody murder when the alternative is contraction and irrelevance.

Lets revise western contraction and its consequences in the light of the aftermath of the Vietnam conflict. A day or so ago I sat at a table with an Islamic academic and a student from Vietnam. The former was outraged at how Bush, Blair and Howard had lied to the world about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and wanted to if he had the power put the latter on trial. Retreating from this position in the light of Saddam's inexcusable atrocities he resorted to calling in support for the United States paying reparations to Vietnam for its killing of 3 million Vietnamese during the conflict. Citing in particular the application of agent orange to the jungles and the intergenerational effects that this has had upon the Vietnamese student agreed.

As an Australian I would have been quick to counter that the Australians also suffered from the application of agent orange and have not been compensated (us being allies and not enemies) had it occurred to me at the time. But such compensation would require the US to admit that it was wrong and I and a few others do not believe it was despite the crowings of the uberliberal press.

What were we there fighting for? The Vietnamese student refuses often to discuss her country out of frustration. As the persecuted member of a Catholic minority she laments governmental edicts that mirror the Chinese one child policy which assert she should only have one or two children. Irony upon irony - this is why we went to war against the Communists. Procreative freedom is a staple of the west and the west alone. Muslims are free to breed up but not free in whom they marry (muslim women cannot marry non muslim men in Islamic states anyway). Little things like this make up the bricks and the mortar of everything in our societies and preserving them is not a trite concern it is the only thing worth fighting and dying but most importantly killing for.

Muslims will take whatever measures and make whatever sacrafices needed to expand their religion and this makes them strong even against the west which possesses the military and scientific capacity to wipe them like cochroaches from the face of the earth. The latter propostion becomes all the more acceptable in the light of the true nature of the threat we face as westerners and members of the nonmuslim world. As much as the Islamites are conviced fo their military and moral superiority I feel if we were to indulge our darker natures for less than a nanosecond Islam would vanish. That makes rewarding Islamist violence with a blanket annihilation response very tempting as a proposition. As Oscar Wilde said the only way to deal with temptation is to yield to it.
