Freedom is the power, rooted in reason and will, to act or not to act, and so to perform deliberate actions on one's own responsibility. By free will one shapes one's own life. Every act directly willed is imputable to it's author. Every human person has the natural right to be recognized as a free and responsible being. The right to the exercise of freedom is an inalienable requirement of the dignity of the human person. This right must be recognized and protected by civil authority with in the limits of the common good and public order.

This is the difference between Democracy and Islam. And this is Islam's failure. Until Islam understands the necessity of this principle, adopts it as it's own and exercises it with out reservation Islamist will die. This isn't a war of religions it is a war of freedoms v.s oppression. All types of repressive and oppressive rule must be defeated so all human beings can stand as equals amoung equals. All democracies are failing in this regard as they move further to the right, and limit our social freedoms and rights in response to the threat of todays Islamic world jihad.
