Reader comment on item: Europe is Finished, Predicts Mark Steyn

Submitted by Barbara Schmidt (Germany), Nov 15, 2006 at 03:59

Hello Mr Pipes,

I live in Germany. Your synopsis of this book could also be a summary of the news in all medias here in Germany: the bankruptcy of the state pension system, the lack of children "to pay our pensions when we retire", the continuing influx of "guest workers" (who are still needed because Germans won't do the work they expect the guest workers to do), and the lack of self-reliance. But the very fact that it's being discussed is a sign that Europe may still be able to turn around.
