in response to reader comment: Islam is the religion of mankind dhimmi

I understand your need to defend your religion as I understand Jews and Christians defending their religions. The exception I would like to point out is that Judaism and Christianity have had a reformation and their religious behavior has been moderated to this extent.

Israel is fighting to survive as a nation not as a religious expression in itself. Democracies are being attacked from with in by Islamist who have no intention of expressing mutual respect and social understanding of their host nations. Proof of this lies not in the Koran but rather with the ignorant anti-social behavior of Islamic leadership holding titles like Imam and mufti and their misguided followers.

It is true that the other Abrahamic books have similar passages that can be used to forment violence, and when such texts are used we immediately brand them as social misfits and work to deny them any official voice in our society. Many Christian based cults have popped up over the years and Christians have taken all steps necessary to protect the misguided. Proof of this lies not in the Bible but in the behavior of Christians in stamping out these perversions of Christianity.

Today Islam is being perverted by the Islamic extremist in the name of returning to that religions fundamentals, and they are educating the faithful to kill one another to bring about this swing to the ultra right religious interpretation. And destruction of lives, property, and the social fabric of many Muslim and non-Muslem countries is being justified under this fascist anti-democratic ideology.

American hostilities in Iraq lasted but a matter of weeks. March 19 - May 1, 2003. Since May 1, 2003, American involvement in Iraq has been pro-Iraqi. The violence has been Muslim on Muslim violence and to blame it on the American presents there is sidestepping the actual issue and failure to accept responsibility. Same for what is taking place in Afghanistan, the Sudan, Somalia, and else where in Africa, the Philippines, Australia, Europe, Great Britain, the United States and Canada.

With your blind defence of Islam you manufacture consent for the violence of Islam today, and by not standing against the vile anti social and anti-democractic speech and actions of your religious leadership you suggest agreement. You do nothing to initiate any kind of religious reform or show any conception of just what Islam is doing to the world that has grown measureably smaller and much more diverse since the advent of Islam. Your attempt to justify the actions of Islam today with the past means you have no intention of promoting reform of your own Muslim accord.

Muslims are the problem with Islam not Judaism or Christianity or democracy. Trust me. It's not contradictory to be a good Muslim and to respect other peoples beliefs, religions, cultures, or ethnicity under civil law and democratic governance. It's a simple matter of shifting focus from the warring acts of written Islam to the peaceful acts of written Islam. Any fool can pick up a weapon, it takes strength of character to hold to propriety.
