A Muslim "reconquesta" of Andalusia

Reader comment on item: Europe is Finished, Predicts Mark Steyn

Submitted by Octavio (Italy), Dec 21, 2006 at 05:15

It is time we Europeans look into this: Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates want to give money- through charities- for the establishment of a huge mosque in Cordoba, Andalusia, where Muslims once ruled. Given that the Spanish region of Andalusia was once Muslim, this looks like a "reconquista". The Corboba mosque would be the largest in Europe, and the second largest in the world, just after Mecca. There are already 100 mosques in Andalusia, and there is no need to build this huge, enormous mosque, which will be bigger than Casablanca's (25,000 faithful regularly go to Casablanca).

I am from Italy: Rome's mosque was built with Saudi money, and it is Europe's largest at present. This one in Andalusia would be bigger, but also more meaningful. Many Muslims think that Andalusia was stolen from them in the past. The truth is that Spain- and Andalusia- have chosen not to be Muslim. If I was Spanish, I would tell the Saudis and the Arab Emirates to spend their own money somewhere else. Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are clearly trying to colonize Spain. Their money must be rejected and the mosque should never be built in Andalusia.
