Music- the great demarcator

Reader comment on item: Europe is Finished, Predicts Mark Steyn

Steyn needs to be a little more observant that many young muslims in Europe are hardly as militant as their parents and grandparents.

For starters, let's discuss music. Music in all forms is utterly detested by all Fundamentalist muslims. I really and truly think there is no exception to this. it is well known that the taliban banned it. Yet for all the Wahhabi rhetoric against it, has music been banned in Saudi? Then you have groups like these. http://www.isufirock.com/music/no_more_video.html Apparently very popular in Europe, to the fundamentalist parents utter chagrin! Muslims like these do more to deter terrorism within their society than we give them credit for. That's why Muslim Republicans like the Hasan family feature them on their web site! http://muslimsforamerica.us/ Think we could take a cue from this and actually voice our support for those muslims who take a stand against hate, oppression, and violence? Sadly many of my fellow Americans fail to recognize these trends, though they are obvious to anyone with modest education about the region.
