Whether or not your believe in religion........I think It does have a place in human affairs in 3 ways.

1. The supernatural unprovable bit
2. As a repository for the nations/cultures morality and sense of right or wrong so that each new generation does not have to learn it from scratch.
3. As a political power, which can be used for good or evil.

The problem is that when secular societies dump organizd religion...........well the problem is not that they don't believe in anything............................but they will believe absolutely anything.

Global warming is just one of those unprovable things that they believe in. Like UFO's, conspiracy theories. Inner earth, David Icke's Lizard people, The Whicker Man..etc

The difference however, between the above and global warming is that you can tax the people that don't believe you
