Romesh, War without religion

Romesh Chander, you seem rather anxious to lay the blame for all wars and violence on religion and do so as if you are some authority on these matters. If indeed that is the case, then perhaps you can explain why so much violence existed between various native tribes in Canada, Mexico, South America and United States. Canada is the second largest nation in the world.

Prior to habitation by the Europeans, there were an estimated 250 thousand natives inhabiting the second largest nation in the world. In spite of the paltry population, native tribes were known to travel for weeks at a time and hundreds of kilometers, in order to war with other tribes. Since Christianity and Islam were unknown, how do you explain this bizarre behavior? This behavior was not unique to Canada but rather was common to all nations.

There is no history of humans that does not include war. And religion is just one of the flimsy excuses to war and certainly not as you propose that it in fact was the only reason. In fact, it may be reasonable to assume that if religion were removed from the earth, violence would probably increase.
