Behold a Christian Wahhabi

I've read your 1st entry, and I can't agree with dfwhite more. You have a right to believe and practice whatever you want to, no matter how ideological, ludicrous, or ridiculous it is. This is America, and we allow the wretched CAIR to function here.

And yes, the Judeo-Christian Tradition is an important part of the American identidy [even I, a secularist/atheist, realize this]. America is a cross between secular Enlightenment values and Judeo-Christian principles. I'd say 50/50. In fact, America NEVER lost touch with its Judeo-Christian roots. It explains, at least in part, why Muslims are doing relatively well here. Many Americans, of course, are very religious. Howver, they are also very moderate.

Your attacks upon religious progressives/innovations, in fact, reveal something very striking. You are a not a garden-variety Christian. You seem like a Christian Reconstructionist, and thus a lot closer to a Wahhabi than you'd want to think. Their sermons are not always violent, but what some lack in violence they make up for in absolutism. You even bash "pagans;" that is a cornerstone of Wahhabism. Look for Saudi Sheikh Aed Al Qarni's sermons on the MEMRI site. I think you'll see the resemblance.

As the recent midterm elections [and the referendums in favor of a woman's right to choose and stem cell research affirm this] show, Americans are very moderate people. They aren't religious fanatics. If Reconstructionism were to take over, America would no longer be a democracy. We're already fighting religious fanatics abroad; we don't need them controlling us here. This is exactly the thing that people like Daniel Pipes are trying to fight.

And no, an America ruled by Christian Reconstructionism won't be the America George Washington wanted in 1776, either. It would, in fact, be a lot like Iran or Saudi Arabia. Americans know this. Please re-think Christian Reconstructionism, if only for your sake. There is no future in it.
