I also believe that the West is in a desperate need of a reformed immigration policy -- the number 2 source (for immigrants to Canada) is from Muslims (the number 1 source has been from Asias -- but that has dropped, as standards of living have increased in countries such as China).

The problem is how to differentiate ordinary Muslims from the jihadist variety... There has been a report published from West Point which alleges that the jihadist movement is far more widespread in certain countries (that's in North Africa nations and the Gulf States) than what has previously been acknowledged. Perhaps (at the very least) there should be a reduction in the number of immigrants accepted from these spawning grounds of radicals..

.But then, of course, you have countries such as Pakistan and Indonesia (there are many, many "ordinary" Pakistanis, etc, that to ban them all seems draconian....but there's also the radical Pakistanis). Then, of course (again from the report from West Point) some of the most radical clerics are not from Saudi Arabia, are not from Egypt and are not from Pakistan -- they live in London, England.

Another problem is that if one were just to slap an outright ban (zero tolerance, zero admission), then you'd be in the camp of the Ultra Right Wing (with its own set of problems). It's one of those no-win situations...(What some commentators constantly allege over here -- that's in Leftist Canada and Leftist Amerika -- is that Muslims in Canada and the States actually integrate -- unlike in the EU. I have serious doubts about this supposed "integration"...I'm really not seeing the kind of integration that these Leftists are alleging...Muslims tend to establish their own communities (I hear that Sharia law is being practiced in certain areas -- whether or not Sharia has sanction by the Canadian government is irrelevant to these practitioners.)

So, I don't know what the solution should be -- it looks like one has to choose from a selection of bad choices, then pick the least bad...(If I had my way, I'd shut down the borders...close it off, at least until Islam got its act together -- but it's not going to happen, Canada and the United States would never shut the door to immigrants...So we have to think of other alternatives..)
