in response to reader comment: I WONDER WHY?

When I read your comments, I get a sinking feeling...And, in part, because I hear this all the time from Muslims.

Allow me to repeat the main points in your arguments. They go as follows: First you maintain that "many" "have a complete prejudice against Islam." Then you accuse on-line readers of being accusers. Next you note how beautiful Isam is. Then you mock Genesis, claiming it "gets it wrong" and after mocking the Bible, you claim the Quran corrects the mistake.

Next, you mention that a U.S. soldier raped and murdered a 14-year-old Iraqi girl (and also killed the family), then allege that such incidents explain the insurgency. You then conclude that "Islam isn't the disease -- you are." Then you claim that for some reason there's a difference between Muslims committing crimes and those of other religions committing crimes (with the implied assumption that somehow Muslims -- sob, sob -- are unfairly discriminated against). You end by promising that Allah will punish those who insult Islam.

I think that about sums up the gist of what you have alleged. Now allow me to briefly respond.

One of the "problems" with Islam (at least from what I read) is that the followers seem to lack what one could term "insight" -- or that is -- when one points a finger, Muslims don't seem to think about how this may or may not apply to themselves. Thus the very thing you're accusing others of (a prejudice, a mocking of religious texts, a condemnatory attitude towards others, etc, etc) seems to apply to you too. Are you aware of this?

Next, about the U.S. soldier in Iraq who perpetrated those horrific crimes. First, I have no doubt that justice will be done -- he will probably be spending the rest of his life in a prison. Secondly, you will not hear Americans cheering about such deeds nor encouraging others to follow his example. These two aspects, btw, are what characterize the Islamists -- first, they commit heinous crimes (and encourage others to do the same) -- there is never a call for "justice" -- they simply call for the "cutting off of heads" of any infidel or the complete annihilation of group X. Then, there is much cheering on of the calls for mass murder.

Finally, another point -- if you bother reading articles posted on the Internet -- there is a psychopath in Baghdad -- they KNOW his name -- he is a sadistic torturer -- his implement of choice is a DRILL. He has routinely murdered scores of Iraqis. They know his NAME! Yet, what is being done?? Hmmmm? Is he (like the U.S. soldier) being brought to account for his crimes? Or are his acts smiled upon and encouraged?

And you believe that the only problem is mockery of Islam? Now that's laughable!
