in response to reader comment: The Original Languages of Islam are an obstacle

I have to disagree. While Arabic is useful to know in reading the Qur'an . It is not necessary in applying the Qur'an. I read, write, and speak English. While not bieng fluent in Arabic is a little more hindering for me as an Imam.

You must remember what the primary duties of an Imam are. To lead prayer, give the Khutbah for Jummah, and on occasions counsel fellow Muslims. I'm not a scholar, and don't pretend to be. All my sermons, and even the Salat I lead is in English, because I understand it, and the Muslims I lead in prayer have a better time performing thier prayers in English. While most of you remain convinced that Islam is the enemy, and Muslims as well. I still see good in Islam. I see Men Of all ages coming to the Mosque from all walks of life, and see the opportunity to help them reshape thier thinking. They may have been drug dealers, or drug users recently out of rehab.

I have nothing against Christianity, It's not my faith, but I feel it does do good things for people who have no direction in life. As I feel Islam can do the same, and Judaism.
