Reader comment on item: Britain's Encounter with Islamic Law
in response to reader comment: Knowledge is Power

I have no intention of repeating myself. I quoted Jefferson stating that he was a christian. Who do we think we are to tell him he is not? Rather arrogant right. Are you saying that because someone was no longer a member of the Anglican church that they now are not orthodox christians?

Your comparing the reformation years with our understanding today is hilarious. The reformation years were years of much confusion about which church to join let alone interpreting doctrine. We do not have the right to call someone a non christian because we disagree with their doctrine. By that definition none of us would be christian.

Romney did not lose because of his faith but because the vote was split between himself and Huckabee thus giving McCain the advantage. "Mitch, there is a big difference between a secular, democratic nation with a majority Christian population of various denominations on the one hand and a government founded on Christianity on the other. The USA falls into the first category, not the second, despite the claims of the Religious Right to the contrary.

I have no problem with historical fact, and most Americans have been, or are, of Christian background." I appreciate your comments but let's agree to disagree. You certainly have raised some good points. The comment about Germans, amongst others, being christian and yet killers is not an indictment of christianity but some christians. This is a fault of mankind when their value system is insufficiently powerful to stand up for right regardless of the consequences. I for one will not condemn them as I have not walked in their shoes.
