Reader comment on item: Britain's Encounter with Islamic Law

Submitted by maura collins (Canada), Feb 13, 2008 at 05:07

Last week I read in the Telegraph that Muslim men who married up to 4 wives in an Islamic country could now legally bring then to the UK where they would be able to apply for welfare benefits, extra housing, and extra places in schools for children, extra pensions and so on.

Several days later, the same paper reported that households were now in the hole to the tune of 1350 pounds per annum because of inflation, taxation and general useless management by the government. It was a ‘have your say' article, and people did just that.

The hardest hit will be the pensioners of that country come this April, when they will see a drop in their cheques due to increased taxes. These elderly people are already going without regular meals and skimping on meds not paid for by the system because of cost. In my own country of Ireland you have the PC brigade demanding, demanding mind you, a country for those always fun loving, peaceful and industrious ‘Palestinians' who wouldn't work to warm themselves, yet this lot are meant to run a country? Alice, is there room down that hole for me.

Then along comes the mighty Archbishop of Canterbury who delivers the gaffe of the season, once again pertaining to that delicious "Religion of Peace" and life has not been the same since. If nothing else, the English have awoken from their slumber at the mere mention of the dreaded word Sharia, and trawling through the papers for the past several days, my guess is that 99.99% of them are firmly against this insanity. Blair and Brown, you multi-cult nit wits, this is the legacy you have bequeathed to your nation?
