"Tell me then who has been the dominant power in the west for the last thousand years? Have not the followers of Christianity brought us slavery, war, famine and genocide? Who caused the Potato famine in Ireland and the Bore war, WW1 and WW2? Was it not the imperialist European Christian who imagined himself to be the image of Rome?"

Seamus you are correct. Are this people Christians? No they are not. When you act in conflict with the teachings of Christ you are not Christian. Period. Defending your religion from those that seek to enslave requires a defence but to seek to dominate another is not christlike.
