Britain needs a Cromwell, not a Blair.

Once upon a time they did. But things change, don't they? Now it is the government which has a say over what the Brits may and may not want the government to do.

When once the king began to tell their subjects what they might or might not want the government to do, it ended with the beheading of the king and the creation of a republic. Now the monarch is just an admired puppet that parrots the Prime Minister, but the Prime Minister and his cabinet seem to behave like unaccountable kings of old instead. Beheading or imprisoning this or that (prime) minister for incompetence, secret diplomacy and for breaking the Magna Charta and other fundamental laws and traditions of the country might make the government recall that after all it is the people that have a say over what the government has to do and not vice versa.
