Reader comment on item: Britain's Encounter with Islamic Law
in response to reader comment: Why Is It?

Submitted by David W. Lincoln (Canada), Feb 14, 2008 at 22:26

Seamus, what does the history attributable to Islam show? Imad Mughniyeh is representative of the heart of Islam, Justin Martyr for the Christian faith tradition, and I would say Judah Ha Nasi for Judaism. Each person is spirit and matter. So, when life is out of balance, we see one area holding suzerainity over other areas. Well, this is not the way we are meant to live.

Put another way, would a Muslim have written the Magna Carta or J'Accuse? I have my doubts. But, I can see a Jew writing either because injustice is abhominable to a Jew that puts more emphasis on what Abraham ushered into the world - rather than the tribal nature which is characteristic of groups that can be defined via ethnicity. Feel free to check "The Pride and the Rage " and "The Force of Reason" by Orianna Fallaci.
