Now, Having Thought About It.......

Reader comment on item: Britain's Encounter with Islamic Law
in response to reader comment: Think about it!!

So, having thought about it, we can concede that in most Western societies, the idea of meting out proper punishment for the crimes committed is severely curbed under the guise of humanitarian sensibilities, that it is now considered barbarian to execute judgment for even the most barbaric crimes. There is even a concurrent consent from the religious sectors seeking mercy for convicted murderers and the like.

All of this because, under the misguided precept of extending mercy in the name of Christianity, Western governments no longer follow Biblical principles in administering justice, but divergent precepts of men (and women). Were Biblical imperatives applied to the administration of justice (and it is not refering to an ‘eye for an eye' type of jurisprudence), then there would be different perspective of maintaining order in Western societies. Only in the abdication of such responsibilities does the Western mindset find itself failing in a comparison to an alternative form of jurisprudence. It is not sufficient therefore to say that justice under Islam would be different, yet it can easily be seen as barbaric compared to the current Western sensibilities.
