Moors and ArabsReader comment on item: Barack Obama's Muslim Childhood Submitted by Quranite (United States), Jul 13, 2011 at 17:01 The Moors were originally the black Berbers from Northwest and Northern Africa. The term was sometimes interchanged with Ethiopian. There were no original Moors among the black Arabs of Arabia. When the black Arabs joined with other Black N. Africans they all became associated with Moors and Moor became a term to mean Black Muslims of Arabia, Northwest, West, North East, East and North Africa. As these black moors began to mix with Caucasians the term also began to apply to much lighter Muslims in Southern Europe and these same areas. The Moors remained black for a long time but the trading of European slaves, European immigration, as well as slavery/immigration from white Persian/Caucasus lands into Arabia and N. Africa eventually created a a majority of whiter N. Africans and Arabs as a whole. This process took about 1000 years.
