Reader comment on item: Barack Obama's Muslim Childhood
in response to reader comment: Lies beget lies - Obama's now using the Holocaust - sickening

It's so funny how you "had the nerve" to bring up this event as though Barack Obama completely fabricated the story. First of all, as he stated, this was a story told within his family so he was repeating it as he had heard it told. However, it is unfortunate that he said "Auschwitz" instead of "Buchenwald", where Americans actually did help to liberate the concentration camp....so maybe you should re-read that article and instead of seeing what you want to see, you'll read what is actually written on the page.

In addition, he was not down-playing how horrible the Holocaust was. The only thing Obama did by mentioning the Holocaust was to depict the time in which his uncle's illness took place. He was trying to explain exactly what is happening now: We have soldiers out there fighting a war and fighting on our behalf but when they come back home, they do not have access to all of the resources they need to cope with what they have experienced.

I could see if he made a mistake like saying he was under Sniper fire when he really wasn't--- I would expect that you would remember being shot at--but his story was not about something he experienced first hand....So, it pretty much sounds like you're pulling a Hillary Clinton and grasping at straws. Nice try though.
