Why his religious background does matterReader comment on item: Barack Obama's Muslim Childhood Submitted by Bibani (United States), Oct 26, 2008 at 22:47 If indeed there is absolutely nothing wrong with a Muslim President, the simple fact that Barack Obama has openly lied and continues lie to about having ever been involved Islam is reason enough to question his character. However, Islam has been and is a brutal religion. I am not speaking from what I have heard, but from what I have experienced. Two years ago, I spent a couple of months in Kenya, and saw first hand what true to the core Muslims (such as Obama's father and step father) believe and the terrible oppression women of that religion suffer. On the flight back to the U.S. I read many passages in a Koran copy I had picked up in the airport. Based on what I read in the Koran I strongly believe that our country desperately needs to be cautions about this next presidential election. We must rid our minds of such a naïve notion as to think that Barack Obama's religious background has no effect on his capacity to be our country's leader. It would be completely absurd to pretend that it does not matter. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
