Barack Obama's Children's Crusade

Reader comment on item: Barack Obama's Muslim Childhood
in response to reader comment: Homefront, we cannot afford to experiment with US survival

Sara,

I would never suggest experimenting with the future of the United States but I can suggest that occasionally strategic thinkers have emphasised when any course of action is bad then a third path (that of inaction) can be regarded as strategically optimal. Though this conspicuously Taoist suggestion has been condemned in western circles as being excessively fatalistic - by it I am implying raging against the liberal machine whilst it is at its pinnacle of strength is a waste of energy. Let it flounder on the rocks of its own ineptitude first.

I have an analogy that might amuse you and many of the other readers here. For those of us who have studied medieval history (which is now often viewed through the rose colored glasses of antichristian cultural relativism) the date 1212 AD evokes images that I think are relevant to this age of Obamamessianism.

On this date a Childrens Crusade set forth to the holy land to peaceably convert the Muslims there to Christianity - it's child leader believing that the spiritual purity of the children would be enough to overwhelm the heathens. The result of this enterprise stood in stark contrast to the "divinely" inspired vision of mass conversion to Christianity. Those children who did not die crossing the mediteranean were enslaved by Saracen and Turkish soldiers. It was a powerful reality check for the people of Europe that man could not live on faith alone. Political pragmatism being necessary in all endeavors.

Barack Obama is following a similar false faith into the middle east and elsewhere - that of Edward Said's Multiculturalism. The belief that all disputes can be resolved with dialogue. I can imagine him in a media conference after Iran breaks any and all agreements with him vis a vis its nuclear program (and develops a bomb) with his contrived narcissistic indignity saying how the violation of the agreement is a show of personal disrespect to him. How very Neville Chaimberlain.

Although optimally I would hope that Barack is not elected, a second best scenario is that his first term is such an unmitigated disaster that it kills off or mortally wounds the liberal faith that he follows.

Cheers,

Homefront.
