Very Doubtful

Reader comment on item: Barack Obama's Muslim Childhood

Submitted by Cynical (United States), Dec 28, 2008 at 01:40

I'm pressed to say that as an American we have all let the standards of our own country shape and guide our direct paths of our future. A future that is directionless and going nowhere fast. We all complain about obsurdities found within our own communities, job sites and neighbor hoods, yet we have allowed it to come to where we are holding only a few accountable, and not our selves. We have failed as a whole to enforce those standards which define us as American, ie: our language namely being English, and have allowed all others to define us as a melting pot where everyones voice has value except our own.

A melting POT of what? We are no longer a grand unit to bestow credibility and value, nor are we a Country unified. We are a fish net with gapping holes allowing all of our true values, strengths and wisdom slip through and away without as much as recognizing the fact that it is happening. I'm saddened to see so many Americans unable to voice their true feelings and make change take place where it should. So often I hear we want change. It is knowing from what we need change, not to change what needs to be fixed. The issue of color as a political mechanisim is disgraceful, but to accept a change that doesn't embody the countries good is equally as disgraceful! Integrity is earned, and is timely, as are values and traditions and to say someones past means nothing, is saying that America's past as a Country means nothing as well. That the men and women who have faught for those values and traditions in the past mean nothing. If anyone who claims to be American can so easily brush off the values and traditions that have made this country what it is up to today, can also vote in someone who's past is less than honorable in integrity, credibilty and standards which we all hold ourselves up to as citizens on a daily basis. Let God be the final judge on his true integrity, for those who follow will be accountable as well.
