The term is "Internalization". Simple exposure to a belief system does not mean that the individual has "Become" a Mu'slam, Christian,etc. One must internalize the dogma and incorporate the dogma, into ones own personality. Exposure to many mythologies may serve to innoculate one from a particular mythology. Obama has chosen to accept the name of a Mu'slam, yet have all believe that he has internalized the dogma of Christianity. As for what you are, only you can decide. Dr. Pipes, so far as I can tell, has not said that B. Hussein Obama is a Muslim, only that he was exposed to the mythology of Islam.
