US Constitution is not "drivel", Cindy

Reader comment on item: Barack Obama's Muslim Childhood
in response to reader comment: The proof is in, Obama was not only listed as a Muslim, but also as an Indonesian

The US Constitution requires a president to be a "natural born citizen." So, yes, it is a legitimate concern--not "drivel"-- for American voters to know whether a candidate was raised to be or become the citizen of another country, or ever held dual (or triple) citizenship. The mainstream media refuses to clarify this issue by not pressing Obama for other verifiable documents (passports, vault copy of his birth certificate, etc) pertinent to the question of his possible dual citizenship.

The president is the only official who must be a "natural born citizen" because , as the only official meant to represent the entire American electorate, he or she should not have even the hint of conflicting loyalty to other countries. This is why immigrants, even though many are great patriots, are not eligible, and why many voters think those with dual citizenship should not be president, regardless of the technicalities of their eligibility.

This is also why many voters want a president raised in America, or at the very least raised to think of him/herself as an American. Obama's upbringing in Indonesia during his formative years, his school record listing him as an Indonesian citizen, and other evidence about Obama's parents-- (that they were more comfortable living abroad than in the US)-- ipso facto makes him a poor candidate for many Americans, and their opinion on this issue is legitimate.

This is one voter who will not vote for Obama, even though I have always voted Democrats for president in the past, because of his lack of an American and America-oriented upbringing. Reserving the presidency for "natural born citizens," and those raised in America and oriented to America is more important than the short-term economic problems we face this year. (Contrary to what the mainstream media would insinuate, my unwillingness to vote for Obama has nothing to do with race. I voted for Tom Bradley twice, and would vote for Colin Powell over McCain in a heartbeat.

In fact, Rasmussen polling shows significantly more Americans would vote for Colin Powell than McCain, proving that anti-Obama sentiments have more to do with his ideology, or his foreign background, than his race)
