Homefront,

I could not agree more. It is a peculiar phenomenon that I am struggling to comprehend. I live in an ultra liberal neighborhood in No.Cal and if I were to go by the Obama signs and bumper stickers around me, I would be convinced we were doomed. If i dared to put up a republican poster or bumper sticker, I would fear being attacked! How does that make sense? That liberals in their religious fervor can justify vandalism or even violence if the end result is their perceived utopia (reminds me of Islamists). But it was the same way here in 2004, and my brilliant 14 yr old son reminded me that this is not representative of the rest of the country.

I have found Evan Sayet's analysis a useful and reassuring tool in interpreting liberal actions and statements lately. I owe him a debt of gratitude. Mark Steyn. I have listened to or read most of his speeches and am currenly reading "America Alone'. Thank G-d there are people like that out in the media.

My deepest concern (other than Islamism) is the mindset that has infected academia and entertainment like a virus. How does one immunize our children and the next generation from this false sense of legitimacy? It is natural to be idealistic when you are young (although both of my boys have seen the light early...), as they should be, but the liberal religion has taken it to an extreme and become a powerful and dominating political movement which reeks suspiciously of communism. They were here all along. They have managed to take over academia, the media, entertainment. There is no defense, it is just a matter of time.

How can we worry about defending against global Islamists when they are ushered in the front door by these utopian seeking fools in our very midst? Makes me want to wish there was a voluntary segregation of like minded people who could live together in one place. All of the like minded liberals could move to EU and the like minded conservatives (though it is a very broad tent) could pursue capitalism and freedom in the US. Hey, if they can dream, I can too :)

I see conservatives failing, the justice system unable to prosecute the trials of Islamists over and over, and I hope to myself that generations before me had the same fears that in the end were unfounded.

P.S. here is a droll illustration for your amusement: http://hurricaneharry.blogspot.com/2006/08/how-to-negotiate-with-terrorists.html
