let me get this straight. the man lived in a country with a predominately muslim population when he was between the ages of six and ten. his stepfather's religion was entered in the catholic school records-his mother's certainly couldn't be, since being labeled atheist would have probably caused problems for him...anyway, six-year-olds are assigned the religious affiliation of their parents until they reach the age of reason. barack's mother had no affiliation, the stepfather's was chosen. same thing in public school. no one in that family was Christian, so of course he wasn't given a Christian "tag". since the schools required an answer, they were given the one that made sense for the family...but it was an answer of expedience. as an adult, barack obama made a different choice, and became a Christian
