Jews as legitimate targets

Reader comment on item: Trouble in Londonistan

What a load of rubbish!!!

It is interesting to read that "...Some 37% (of British Muslims) consider Jews in Britain "legitimate targets as part of the ongoing struggle for justice in the Middle East," and 16% state that suicide bombings can be justified in Israel..."

Using that line of reasoning, then it is no longer a problem in London to approach a woman wearing the hijab and physically abuse because she is Muslim. Or to spit on a Muslim man because he wears the full beard. This is because they are the legitmate enemy of any Jew anywhere in the world.

But have you heard of Jewish youths beating up Muslims anywhere in modern Europe? No

Have you heard of mosques being desecrated by Jews? No

Do you hear abuse by Jews when a Muslim gets on a bus? No

What is it with Islam that allows for disaffected thugs in Europe to attack Jews because they are Jews? Is that the teaching of the Prophet? No. Is that the interpretation of the Koran? No. Are their community elders scared to speak out?

Does islam allow diversity of thinking?

No, these are simply bored, violent thugs who use violence as a panacea for imagined ills. Do they really believe their bigotry will in any way affect the outcomes in the Middle east? No.

The tide in Europe is beginning to turn. Europeans (and Britain!!) have not known how to react to fundamentalist Islamic groups and their blind continuous rage. After so many years, Europe is beginning to recalim their national identity. Multicutluralism within reason is the growing new catchcry.

And the reason is simple; if you have a political issue concerning the middle east, then either you accept the social norms governing freedom of expression, or you are penalised for infringing those norms.

The world is fast tiring of fundamentalist Islam and the instability it is causing in sginifciant swathes of the globe. Even though Islam was born of the sword (and there are those who wish to see its expansion through violence and coercion), European nationalism is slowly beginning to raise its head again and to realise that it does not need to continue to put up with destabilising fundamentalist Islamics of whatever age.

After all, you don't see Jews agitating to convert the world or to commit violence against those who do not believe in Judaism, or even Jews calling non-Jews the derogratory "infidel". Jews and Judaism are an inward facing faith and culture. Accomodation, mutual respect and negotiation are its central tenets.

Trouble in Londonistan suggests that fundamental Muslims in the UK will bring increasing trouble to that country because they do not have the courage of their convictions to fight for their own beliefs in the political arenas they talk so passionately about. It certainly is much easier to sit in Britain and show enormous anger, violence and hatred in London, Birmingham and Bristol rather than put their money where their mouth is and really help their people.

It is irrational behaviour, but then, that is the nature of any fundamenatlist belief.
