sword,

my intention in writing my post is based on this, to write a post that reflects a lessening of support for israel based on the rantings of a couple of people who are visibly shaken by the events of the day is playing right into the jihadists hands. they want to pit us against each other so they can use the old divide and conquer strategy.

i have been going to a chat in england for the last 4 and a half years called justchat .co.uk and i have yet to encounter a single instance of anti-semetism. apperently, the 2 posters in your commentary have very little contact with british people directly and take most of their facts off the boob box. america is a staunch ally of israel, thank god, and what you see on our news, and im sure that it is true of israeli news as well, are things that are in a vacuum pertaining to the issue of the day. when we turn on the tv and hear the anti-semetic ravings of the mayor of london or the islamists screaming death to israel in finsberry park, a lot of folks in this country are prone to take these events out of context in relation to the whole and react more out of fear of their situation then intend any real malice. the jihadis use this to drive a wedge between us. and we simply must not let this happen. as benjamin franklin said to his colleauges on the eve of the american revolution, we must hang together or we most assuredly will hang seperately.

the other thing i would like for you to explain to me, if you would be so kind to do, is why every time israel defends herself, no matter how grevious the affront, the eu always seems to find some blame to throw on israel. for instance, i had an occasion to watch the bbc news during the crisis that had happened several years ago when the israelis forcably cut off yassar arafats movements away from his compound in ramallah. my jaw almost hit the floor after listening to eu representative after eu representative come on your tv and renounce israel while not a single one mentioned the fact that the israeli action had been taken because of terrorist activities attributable to arafats own military wing of fatah, the al aqsa martyrs brigade. as an educated man doesnt this seem a little peculiar to you? doesnt this seem to be a little one sided to you? what do you think you would have thought if you turned on an israeli broadcast criticizing the british military for responses that your government had to take to quell ira violence. and now all i am hearing coming out of the eu, and this includes britain,is that israel should "restrain" itself. why the hell should israel restrain itself. the very concept of it is bombastic at best. when is the last time the eu told the russians to "restrain" themselves in chechnya, or the phillipinos to "restrain" themselves in the southern phillipines, or the chinese to "restrain" themselves in the shanghai provence, etc etc etc. ill tell you why they havent. its a simple 3 letter word called oil. and the arabs have the oil. apperently oil is more important to the eu then human life. i would expect that from a bunch of cowards like the french, but certainly not of a brave people like the british.

having said that, i am an american who loves britain and the british people, and would hope that you would sit for a minute and empathize with the israeli position and tell me what you think.

thank you
