in response to reader comment: Jesus is a muslim prophet and not the son of god

Most of the Letters are written before the Gospels. The stress the divinity of Jesus. In addition, Jesus actually is referred to as the Son of God in every single book of the New Testament including the Gospels. Every Gospel has Jesus being told this at his baptism. Moreover (in real life) Jesus, may not have referred to himself as the Son of Man. That is a title taken from Daniel 7:13. Read it! Giving him that title fulfills prophecy and thus cannot pass historical criticism (it cannot be verified). He earned it probably by blurring the Angel-Human distinction. Remember, Jesus is God is spirit and actions only. Alone Jesus is not God but only with God is he God. That is he is the LAMB or SON or WORD (Sacrifice / Intercession / Tool). The title "Son of God" was taken from Augustus Caesar. He had others call him "Son of God" after the pantheon officially deified Julius Caesar. Calling Jesus the "Son of God" is actually an act of protest on polytheism. In addition Son plays on the metaphors in the Abraham-Isaac/Ishmael near-sacrifice.

Although the title "Son of God" is a technically a metaphor but is also a FUNCTIONAL REALITY. Jesus is not literally, in the physical sense, the semen produced progeny of God. He is a MIRACLE. Maybe you'd prefer one of these titles: "Word of God," "Lamb of God," or "Love of God" instead of "Son of God." They all mean the same thing. Still, Islam is wrong to say that God as no affiliates. PEACE BE WITH YOU SISTER
