Reader comment on item: Trouble in Londonistan
in response to reader comment: "Tolerance becomes a crime when applied to evil"

Submitted by Kwame (United States), Dec 9, 2008 at 21:32

I will keep this simple, and assume with 100% certainty that you are completely disinterested in conflicting opinions, but anyone that says tolerance becomes a crime when applied to evil is probably a bit confused. Once you tie evil to crime, especially when you are in a position to dictate what comprises evil, then you have granted yourself extraordinary powers. Since evil comes with a moral and therefore religious slant, it is at once repressive and prone to manipulation. Our ideas of freedom ought to win, especially when talking about things like accessing websites and the like, especially when accessed outside the classroom.
