Understanding Quranic verses

Reader comment on item: Israel's Predicament at 60: World's worst neighbourhood
in response to reader comment: "Clear and unclear verses in the Qur'an, will learning Arabic help my understanding?"

I would like to state that a majority of Muslims do not understand Arabic. The text or the Surah being in some sort of Arabic which is quite different from the modern day Arabic, it is better left to Maulvis to interpret the Quran and mislead the Muslims all over the world. They spread tall claims of the grandeur of Islam and motivate people to kill and maim innocent human beings in the name of religion. No religion worth its salt can urge its followers to kill fellow citizens. I condemn all kinds of violence under any guise or garb and suggest peaceful solution of all problems. The people who kill others in the name of religion, custom or culture are criminals and barbarians and do not deserve any compassion or consideration.
